Tales of the Thames
📍 Meet here
Tower of London — riverside wharf
Welcome to the Thames. You are standing on the Tower's riverside wharf. For six hundred years the Thames was London's main road, and this stretch of bank carried more of the city's trade and trouble than any street behind it. Everything on this route is solvable from free public ground - you never need to buy a ticket to finish a clue, and that includes the wharf you are standing on. You cross the river twice, once high on Tower Bridge and once low on the Millennium Bridge. Budget three to four hours and around six kilometres on foot - this is a full outing, not a quick loop. The route ends in a small public garden that closes at dusk in winter, so if you are starting in the afternoon, keep an eye on the time.
